Rohdea japonica 'Go Dai Takane'

Rohdea, or Nippon lily, is an evergreen perennial with beautiful foliage and showy red fruit in winter.

The cultivars with variegated or differently shaped foliage, have been popular pot plants in Japan for hundreds of years. They are easy houseplants in cool rooms when grown in tight pots.

  • Excellent drainage is the one requirement that cannot be compromised. They are otherwise extremely tough plants.
  • Allow to dry between waterings in summer and water sparingly in winter.
  • In USDA Zones 7 to 9 they are good garden plants for moderate to heavy shade, but still require good drainage.
