Pyrrosia
Pyrrosia lingua 'Futaba Shishi'
Pyrrosia are ferns with leathery leaves and a creeping rhizome. In the wild they are usually found growing on rocks (lithophytes) or on trees (epiphytes).
They are popular pot plants in Asia and are rapidly gaining popularity here.
- They should be grown in a very well-drained soil mix.
- It is best to allow them to dry slightly between watering, especially in the winter, when they should be kept near dry. It doesn't matter if the leaves curl or shrivel occasionally.
- The Japanese species like cooler temperatures and will be happy in a cool room or greenhouse.
- Fertilize lightly in summer.
