Hoya onychoides

Hoyas are tropical or subtropical vines that usually cling to trees or other supports. They have attractive succulent leaves in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and patterns. Many have beautiful, often fragrant flowers.

They are excellent indoor plants, wonderful in hanging baskets and the smaller varieties are good terrarium plants. We sell rooted plants grown in chunks of coconut husk fiber in plastic net pots.

  • Hoyas thrive in warm temperatures with moderate to bright light, and moderate to high humidity.
  • They like warmth and frequent watering and feeding during the growing season, then drier and cooler conditions to set flower buds.
  • They need excellent drainage.
  • Grow Hoyas in orchid bark or a well-drained compost mix in a pot or basket.

Do not cut off the short stalks that bear the flowers after bloom, as new flowers will appear again on the same stalks.
