This beautiful agave has its roots in Mexico, but this variegated form has been available in Japan for years. Surprisingly, it is still not easy to find in the US. It has been listed as a cultivar of A. potatorum and A. verschaffeltii, but experts believe that both of these names are illegitimate. It might in fact be a new, undescribed species or a hybrid. It is a very beautiful variety, soft blue-green with a broad cream border and a red-brown terminal spine. As it gets older, it makes a rounded specimen to at least a foot across and tall. Needs well-drained soil and bright light; for best success allow the plant to dry out before watering and keep it cool and dry in the winter. USDA Zones 10-11.
Grown in 3.5" pots.
