A woodland wildflower from NE Asia with very showy early spring flowers in blue or white, followed by finely cut foliage. It needs humus-rich, well-drained soil in shade. Forms carpets of spring color when established. Good plant for the rock garden or in a trough. USDA Zones 4-8.
