An essential Japanese perennial for light to medium shade, forming handsome 18" tall and wide clumps of attractive gray green foliage. Showy single white flowers with abundant yellow stamens bloom in May. The fruits are bright red "receptacles" with dark blue seeds perched on top; they are ornamental for several weeks in late summer. Likes neutral soil in light to moderate shade. Will self-sow modestly. 5-6 yr. old blooming size plants. USDA Zones 4-8
