Alocasia macrorhiza 'Seven Colors'

Alocasia macrorhiza 'Seven Colors'

This new and rare variety of the giant elephant's ear is called "seven colors" in Thailand. The basic colors are yellow and green, with the leaf stalk bright yellow striped green, and bold blotches of yellow on the green background with tones of red, purple, peach, and pink on the stems of large specimens. It is similar to 'New Guinea Gold' when young but has more dramatic splashing of gold on the leaf and more colors on the petiole as it gets older. This is a knockout specimen for the summer garden in a large pot or planted out in a bedding scheme. In winter, keep it growing in bright light in a warm room or greenhouse, or dry it for warm dormant storage in winter. Very rare and slow to propagate. USDA Zones 9-11.

Grown in 3.5" pots. Oversized: counts as 2 plants for shipping.
