Calanthe X Kozu Red Select

This hybrid of the very hardy C. discolor and the tender but fragrant C. izu-insularis offers 10" spikes of deliciously fragrant flowers. There is no true red calanthe, but these are selected in bloom for medium to dark reddish shades. Evergreen foliage is attractive throughout the year. For the garden or the cold greenhouse. Like all Kozu hybrid calanthes, these are evegreen orchids for the woodland garden.with spikes of fragrant flowers in spring. They need a rich but very well-drained soil in shade. If you have consistent snow cover, these can be grown in Zones 5-6. We grow them here in Zone 6 in a sheltered corner. USDA Zones 7a-9.
