A new "Chinese evergreen" from Indonesia that will make the old familiar varieties look dowdy by comparison. It was bred by Mr. George Hambali in Bogor, West Java and is a hybrid of A. nitidum var. curtisii and A. rotundum. It has a cream stem and leaf petioles; the leaves are oval, dark green with screaming carmine midribs and irregular flecks of creamy yellow all over. Excellent houseplant for moderate to strong light but no sun. Will tolerate low light but the colors will not be as bright. Use a well-drained growing mix and allow to dry before watering. USDA Zones 10-11.
Grown in 3.5" pots.
