Agave tequilana, yellow margined
Agave tequilana, as the name implies, is where a good marguerita begins. As an ornamental it is also a star, with dramatic upswept blue-gray leaves with dark termimal spines. This selection also sports a creamy yellow margin. It is a dramatic and beautiful pot speciment, or a great addition to the dry landscape in warm climates. It needs good drainage, sun, and not too much water. Half the experts who see this plant insist it is A. sisilana, the other half A. tequilana. Go figure. USDA Zone 10-11.
