Tropical orchids are those that need warm temperatures throughout the year to grow well and bloom. In general, 60 degrees F is the minimum temperature for winter. Most tropical orchids should be drier in winter. Dendrobiums in particular need cooler temperatures and a period without water to bloom. Grow in sunny windows, in greenhouses or sunrooms, or under lights.
