Ilex pendunculosa 'Mountain Mist'

The very rare variegated form of the longstalk holly is finally available. This form has white frosting and flecking on a dark green background, very showy on the new leaves, fading as the leaves age. It is said to be female; we have seen some fruit on our large plant. Ilex pedunculosa is a very hardy evergreen holly with beautiful foliage and fruit. It is easy in good well-drained soil in sun or light shade. It does require excellent drainage; plants in soil that holds too much water are subject to root rot. USDA Zones 5-8.
