Ophiopogon planiscapus var. nigrescens 'Edge of Knight'

This extremely rare Japanese plant is perhaps the only variegated black-leaved plant, a sport of 'Kokuryu', also known in the US as "Ebony Knight". I found it about 15 years ago in a Japanese department store; I bought all four plants at an obscenely high price. I am happy that I did because I have never seen it sold anywhere since. The everblack leaves have a narrow white border. Remove any shoots that lose the variegation. Likes light shade and rich, well-drained soil, or grow in a pot. USDA Zones 6-9.

3.5" pot.
